Japan earthquake of 6.4 magnitude hits southern region of the country

Earthquake topples houses in southern Japan.

Casualties and collapsed buildings have been reported as a result of the earthquake.

An earthquake has struck southern Japan, bringing down several houses, a top government spokesman says.

No tsunami warning was issued after the quake, measured at a preliminary magnitude of 6.4.
